Guest Jochi1543
This is only superficially medicine-related. I'll have at least a year (probably more like 2) between finishing undergrad and starting medical school, and I will definitely be taking at least one course per semester for the 1st year. I'll be a new immigrant, so no job, family support or anything when I arrive to Canada (British Columbia to be exact). With classes, I won't be able to hold a 9 to 5 job even though I could find 40 hours a week to work. I'm trying to think outside waitressing and pizza delivery, and I'm wondering about part-time employment with the Armed Forces. I went to their website and they offer temporary as well as permanent part-time employment to recent university grads, and they train you for a specific job they think you fit for. So, my questions are, anyone here worked for them, or know someone who has? I couldn't find any info on pay rates or how long specific job training is and whether you pay for it or it's free. If the pay rate's same as the above mentioned bullsh!t jobs or higher, I'd rather do that, at least you can put that on a resume. I have an Economics background (never finished the major, but did take quite a few courses), and I speak several languages, so I was thinking about finance- or translation-related jobs. They didn't have a list of jobs on the site either, it's kind of a pain in the butt to find out any decent information. Thanks to anyone who can offer some advice/details.
