<pagetext>Just got an email about the Medical Biophysics summer student program! I am surprised by the # of applicants recieved this year. Of these, 300 eligible candidates were selected and 45 professors will be contacting student over the next few weeks about job offers.

I just cant get over the amount of competition for this program. It seems like chances are slim that you will actually get a position from this cycle. Has anyone else been through this program? What are your thoughts and suggestions?

BTW, all this waiting is making me go CRAZY!

<pagetext>Can you please give me an honest answer as to whether or not I have a chance for med school (i'll be applying in 2 or 3 years and I'm pretty sure the GPA standards will go up by then, right?)

 

GPA 1st year: 3.9

GPA 2nd year: 3.67

Still have 3rd year to do.

 

If my cumulative GPA for those 3 years ends up being 3.75, do I have a good chance of getting in in Ontario or will it be slim? I've been going through the accepted/rejected database for the five universities in ontario, and almost everyone is >3.9, except the grad students. This really worries me.

 

Oh yeah, I haven't done the MCAT yet but I don't think I'll do stellar on that. My extra-curriculars are pretty good though.

 

Any comments/advice would be much appreciated. thanks!
