PilotMD
Hi everyone, I am considering doing a 4 week elective in Surgical Oncology at UBC. Does anyone have any experience with this elective.....I believe it also includes a short research project with it. Is it tough to get? I am out of province! Cheers PMD
Kirsteen
Hi there, If you're considering Surg Onc at UBC due to an interest in their Gen Surg program then I'd think twice. Unless UBC have changed their policies since last year, they like to see an elective in their Gen Surg program but not any of the surgical subspecialties of Gen Surg, e.g., Vascular, Surg Onc, etc. When you apply for a Gen Surg elective at UBC they will automatically place you within the Hepatobiliary group. They do this for a number of reasons. (I completed one of these electives last year.) Again, I don't know if you're considering a Surg Onc elective as you're hoping to apply to UBC for Gen Surg, so if you're not, then no worries re: the above. Cheers, Kirsteen
