Keeping character count down

I just realized that if I only inserted one space rather than two spaces after each period (end of sentance), I could conserve the number of available characters at my disposal? Does anybody recommend against doing this?

It didn't hurt my Queen's app, at least. I'd avoid doing any contractions though, but I remember using the thesaurus a couple times to find a smaller word to use instead of larger words.

Hi doctorfunk, I certainly wouldn't recommend against one space vs. two. I am doing mine with one space and I think it actually looks tidier than the traditional 2-spaces approach. Besides, we need all the characters we can possibly get. Good luck with your application. All 5 schools? Tanya.

I did the one space thing last year and it didn't hurt me at all...

The only additional school submission that I have completed so far is Western's.

The graphic design specialist I used to work for indicated that two spaces after a period is not correct in printed media or electronic media. Apparently a single space after a period is the "accepted norm" these days.
