Average wGPA and weight of it to be accepted?

GPA of about 3.7

 

Here are the profiles:

 

Profile of the Entering Class of 2006

 

* A total of 2,050 applications were received.

* 391 applicants were interviewed.

* There are 56 places in the class.

* The average weighted GPA of the members of the class was 3.72

(on a 4.0 scale).

* The average age of the members of the class is 26.3 years.

* There are 32 females (57%) and 24 males (43%) in the class.

* There are 3 self-identified Aboriginal students (5%) in the class.

* There are 12 self-identified Francophone students (21%) in the class.

* 28 members of the class (50%) are from rural and remote areas of Northern Ontario or rural and remote areas of the rest of Canada.

* 50 students in the class (89%) are from Northern Ontario.

* In the class there are 15 students (27%) who have graduate degrees, 2 of which have PhD’s.

 

Profile of the Entering Class of 2005

 

* A total of 2,098 applications were received.

* 395 applicants were interviewed.

* There were 56 places in the class.

* The average weighted GPA of the members of the class was 3.68 (on a 4.0 scale).

* The average age of the members of the class is 28.7 years.

* There are 38 females (67%) and 18 males (33%) in the class.

* There are 6 self-identified Aboriginal students (11%) in the class.

* There are 10 self-identified Francophone students (17%) in the class.

They won't tell you how much marks matter, but from what I understand, your marks, references and ECA get you the interview, then the interview is the primary determining factor.

Of course getting in is the goal but secondary to that it is an honor to be one of four hundred to be interviewed out of approx. 2500 applicants. Obviously they see something in you Citta that they like but you just have to work it a bit more ... good luck!

 

I would be very pleased to make it to the interview stage and do the best that I could.
