moose
I do not beleive those figures are accurate. I have found the MSAR quite inaccurate with Canadian stats. From my understanding, OOP interviewees this application cycle had an MCAT average of 11.81 and an average GPA of 4.18 for this application cycle. These numbers came from Beth to me in the form of an email. moose
liszt
They're lies. Cut-offs change every year for OOP students depending on the applicant pool. From what I understand, OOP cut-offs should be expected to be 3.95+ aGPA and 11.5+ MCAT.
ccoh
I had those cut-offs, and wasn't even granted an interview. But I got in to U of S, so I guess I can't complain
ccoh
Nope, OOP, from Ontario. Interview and acceptance at U of S, neither at U of M (or at Ontario schools for that matter).
DiscoDoc
Nope, OOP, from Ontario. Interview and acceptance at U of S, neither at U of M (or at Ontario schools for that matter). Awesome job, ccoh. I seem to recall something like 8 OOP spots and a cut off of 91% at U of S.
flyover
WOW! MCAT 11.8 and a 4.18 GPA with those stats one could get into there in-province school...which begs the question > what kind of waitlist movement should the OOS expect...that is if they get interview and get waitlisted? lostintime
Aw, this thread destroyed my hopes. I have MCAT: 11.25, AGPA: 4.396, and apparently that's not good enough. I don't know if I should even bother wasting the application fees to try hmm.....
moose
I'd apply with those stats lostintime, you never know what may happen. You'll regret it if you found out the stats were lower this year and you could have had a great shot. moose
lostintime
Awww, thanks for the vote of confidence guys--this forum is great for moral support =) You guys are right, the application doesn't take too long, can't hurt to try. At least no regrets later on.
MBMed
Keep in mind that the MCAT 11.8 and 4.18 aGPA are the average... meaning that people with lower scores were accepted. I know of one individual who got accepted this year (IP) with a good GPA but only a 9.5 MCAT. Once you get an interview, that's what counts. If you blow them away in the interview, you can definately get accepted with lower scores
Superking25
OOP, was rejected pre-interview with an MCAT of 10.67 and GPA of.. around 4.

premedgirl
How about IP rejected with 11 MCAT and 4.33 AGPA (4.24 GPA)
lostintime
Question, you CAN take away your worst 3 courses if you have 15 courses right?
Freedom
if by 15 courses.. you mean 15 full courses.. ie 3 full years = 90 credit hours then you get to drop 15 credit hours, which is 5 half courses.. or 2.5 full courses
Charlatan
Average MCAT: 10Average GPA: 3.67 from MSAR May I ask what page on the 2008-2009 MSAR you read this information on? I don't see anything like that on page 374-375 for U of M...?
