nonce
Im wondering, how much input do IM residents have in terms of which applicants get into a program? I know in smaller disciplines such as OPhth, the residents input can make or break your application. Is it the same in IM?
crackers
Depends on the program... some schools have residents on the CaRMS interview panel, others do not.
BlackJack
In clerkship I had a very less-than-stellar experience on my internal medicine rotations. From observation, it seemed that the residents were also not very thrilled to be there. It looked as if they were trying hard to tolerate it. This phenomenon was unique to internal medicine(even during the ungodly hours of the surgery rotation, the residents seemed to genuinely enjoy it). The prevailing attitude of discontentment that I had experienced from the residents has basically eliminated any consideration of applying to any IM programs. I'm wondering if its just my school, or is the internal medicine residency that brutal no matter where you go? Also, does anyone have any idea why these residents seemed so strung-out?
