papermate
Hi everyone, US and caribbean med schools: Are there any disadvantages in taking a 2nd year course in my 3rd year of undergrad? Do US and carrib. schools have weighting formulas? If so, what are their main features? (ex. you're better off taking a full courseload each year) Thanks
Big Baller
As far as you are taking the required number of courses in a given and you are eligible to graduate at the end of the day, it should be ok. As far as i know, they don't care if you completed English 101 in the first or second year.

I believe Canadian med schools want you to take a full course load (you're @ a disadvantage if you don't) however I don't know if this is the case with US & carrib schools. Big Baller
If the schools want you to take the full course load...they would ask you to do so on admissions webpage. To be sure, email them before applying.
rogerroger
I doubt Caribbean schools require a full course load (still check) because mature students make up a large segment of their classes. Many of these students cover the prereqs while working and being part-time students.
