Laura_333
hey all, Many of my hobbies are not involved in organizations. For example I spend a lot of my time cooking Indian food, reading fantasy books, and going for country bike rides. My problem is how to show myself through the application without looking like I'm adding fluff. I don't have tons of volunteer experience, since I've really spent the last few years attempting to get a solid gpa. I wonder if I should even list these things, and I can't think of anyone to verify except family or friends. Any ideas? Thanks!
avenir001
u can definitely list a few hobbies and have friends/family as verifiers...as long as u have some other things and it's all balanced, it shouldn't be a problem. that being said, i think ubc values volunteer experiences, perhaps more so than some other schools..so u may want to focus a little more on that when u have more free time. the naq can be improved in a year or so, but it's much more difficult to recover from a low gpa...so it's good that u chose to focus on ur gpa first.
