NLengr
I am hoping for urology and recently heard this on the OR. The heart is the organ the makes sure the cipro gets to the prostate. I've also heard from one of the Uro guys at my school: "Cipro is like the Vit. C. of urology"
RxUBC
That's joke isn't it. I'd welcome a challenge: MD vs pharmacists on drug knowledge. Med students vs pharmacy students. MDs vs pharmacists. You are a pretty smart guy and I'm sure you have your reasons for making the statements above. My older brother graduated from UBC Med and I ask him all the time about his drug knowledge and he knows very little - and he was also one of the better students in his class... Pharmacy students basically spend all their time learning about drugs, their uses, disease states and monitoring - 4 years of it lol... Doctors simply don't get that much education about drugs... seems pretty obvious to me... I'm sure you know the indications, adverse effects, dosing etc.. etc.. but that's the stuff you pull out of a PDA... if you really want drug knowledge then focus on SAR, drug development and discovery, advanced therapeutics in various disease states, pharmacogenomics, pharmacokinetics, TDM, EBM etc.. etc...
