Re: US Psychiatry residency - USMLE?

Hi guys,

I'm sorry if this is the wrong folder, I thought it might go in the US Med School folder, but this is a residency question, and thought maybe that was more appropriate....?

Anyways, I've been thinking of applying to psychiatry in the States and I was wondering if I needed to write the USMLEs? It says it's required, but I've been told that as a Canadian applicant, that I didn't need to submit a score due to being able to take LMCC and practice psychiatry there anyway...?

I'm emailing the respective places, but hoped to hear back faster, or for feedback in general. Thanks!

Most US programs won't interview you without a USMLE Step 1 score. If you plan on doing residency in the US, I would highly advise taking it, and having the results back BEFORE you start your ERAS/NRMP application, which would be around the start of Med 4.
