What's everyone doing? (Vol II)

Ugh... Some frail old immigrant woman ran out of her house today and screamed at me for letting my dog chase geese in the park (to be fair, me and the dog were chasing the geese; I ****ing hate the bastards). Freaked me out, too, because there was no one else in the park and suddenly, BAM, I turn around and there she is moving her lips and wagging her finger but it's all silent because I'm listening to my iPhone.

I guess where she has not realized that geese are crazy ass pests. We need to start eating Canadian goose for Christmas.

I've done this many times myself (with my dog). I have a vendetta against geese ever since a gander forced me off the sidewalk one day.

University of Waterloo. That's where my vendetta against geese came from.

I don't know how to begin this post or how to end it... all I know is that this guy aka "scientist" has nothing better to do than MRI someone having sex.... then again... he did get a Nobel Peace Prize for this work...

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17662-human-sex-from-the-inside-out.html

Watch the video to see what I mean...

I cracked. I just cracked.

First joke that came to mind: "Porn for Radiologists"

Second joke: This guy just contributed to rule 34 of the internet.

Third Joke: "Please sir and madam...you can't move that much otherwise it will affect the clarity of the scan"

Fourth Joke: Voyeruism and Medical Science - together at last

Fifth Joke: 101 kinkiest places to have sex. MRI? Check.

holy crap, best meeting with my thesis supervisor today!

I'm sure those of you who've done (or are doing) a senior thesis can relate how much work you put into it. I kind of got a late start on mine (it's in social sciences more so than basic or health sciences) in 1st semester and didn't really have anything written until january >.< so I had to put in like 2-3 months worth of thesis over the past month. it's been challenging (i.e. worst month of undergrad ever) but I met with my supervisor today and she wants to publish  ahhhhhhhhh I thought she hated me for being so behind and so hearing that from her was a really pleasant shock. thankfully I'm working with a prof right below her office this summer so it'll make meeting with her to finalize the publication a lot easier :P

congrats! I'm doing a mini thesis (ie. a one semester research course). Unfortunately the paper is just as long as a full yr project. I spent 10 days, day and night on it to get it done by the deadline lol. Craziest week of my life

I submitted my report/data/analysis today. yay!!!!! One less thing to worry about. Now I just have to finish off a manuscript for next friday and I'll be "done" with all my work. I told my supervisor that I'm not starting any new projects until after May 13th and they responded by saying that I could do the analysis for someone else's project. But the data is super interesting, so I guess doing the extra work won't be too bad.

For all those undegrads writing exams at this time:

:D

lol. That's exactly how I felt doing the work that I just submitted today.

I am just so tired of my life right now.

I feel realy helpless and just sleepy/tired all the time, and I can't help wanting to get into brain coma or something so I can withdraw from all my courses. I am doing worse in courses I spend most time I studied, and didn't get interviews from my top choices. I mean I'm really grateful that I still received interviews in other places, but especially nowadays, I feel sad.

At home, my brother is driving my mom insane with his little stupid **** and so there is always loud arguments going on, and my dad keeps blackmailing me to apply to law and dental schools :(

For the first time in my life I never felt so tired, unmotivated, and helpless.

I think it actually helps to remember who everyone is/which places they were going etc... I had them in there, too, and I only finally gave in and did it because I was tired of being asked where I was interviewing and having to repeat it... didn't really do it for any kind of recognition or as a sign of honour... :S

Having said that though, it is just another step, one that's essential to the ultimate goal, so why not be proud?

Thats good that you didn't intend to be pretentious. But a significant amount of people that read it will think that you are. Not that I care what others think that much but one think I'm learning now is that your image as a doctor is very important. :P

Its the same as getting into med school. You'll be proud for a while but its best to realize when it starts that you are so low on the totem pole nurses will crack jokes at you. And you BETTER not piss them off. Lest the effing sisterhood of scrubs decides to make your life hell.

I am going to pretend that every "you" in here to all of us...particularly the part about after getting in, being proud, nurses etc...

My feelings on it's ability to improve communication/understanding can be seen even more so now with all the "first choice polls" it's nice to understand where those voting are coming from (ie. only interview, what other schools they may be choosing over/what they're comparing to, where they even applied...). In fact, in most of the first choice poll threads people are writing all their interview sites anyways and I don't think they're being pretentious.

Seems much more efficient to have the info right there instead of having to go back and view a users posts to understand or remember which one of our online premedders they are...
