MA Gerontology?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm planning on doing a masters in January, however is it a MA and not a MSc. I'm wondering if this has any affect on my applications to med school. Would a MA be frowned upon when compared to a MSc, or are they all considered equally? (Like a Ba or BSc?). I would eventually like to become a geriatrician so I figured this might be a good stepping stone.

I've never seen any med school differentiate between an MA and an MSc. Just curious, what type of research do you do for an MA in Gerontology? Sounds like social/cultural studies of the elderly?

Yes it is more soc/cultural research. They do have MSc in gerontology as well though which appears to be more physiologically based. Both seem like great options for future geriatricians!

Has anyone ever actually got into Med school with a Gerontology masters? I would be very interested in hearing about your experiences. Any other feedback on the MA vs MSc?
