mattg
This is a stupid question, and I'm 99% sure of the answer based on common sense, but does anyone know if a thesis would satisfy schools english requirement? due to a large part of it being writing intensive... or if not those than require english, what about american schools that simply require a 'writing intensive' course... would it possibly satisfy that? as i said, i'm sure the answer to both is no, but just wondering... =) thanks

Spacko
I wish it was, but when I tried to get around the English requirement with UBC they were very specific about what was allowed. Even though I'm an (English) Canadian citizen and I'd completed both an undergrad and PhD in Canadian schools, they still required me to take either first year English, or write their English Exemption Test... I chose the latter. Maybe other schools will be more reasonable.

Halcyon
Pretty sure it has to be a course from the English department, i.e., ENGL 1XX. May depend on the school, but it seems that the ENGL courses should have a literature and/or writing component. Good luck!
