street_med
Hey everyone, Just wondering what people's thoughts are on this... How much time should one spend with rads staff in order to not appear inappropriate when asking for a LOR? Also, I am hoping to apply to rads this fall and was wondering if it's better to submit LORs from radiologists or internists considering I've spent slightly more time with the latter? Hope that makes sense Street
Lactic Folly
Appropriateness will depend on your judgement of your relationship with the proposed referee.. However, you can ask if they feel they know you well enough to write a strong letter. CaRMS' guideline is 2 weeks being the minimum length of time someone should have known you in order to write a letter. Submit your strongest letters regardless of the field of the letter writer. However, you should try to include a radiology letter.

Lactic Folly
Certainly, provided it's a strong letter. As I recall, Manitoba stated a preference for surgery and medicine letters in addition to radiology letters.
Lactic Folly
http://www.carms.ca/pdfs/Instruction%20sheet%20for%20early%20references.pdf The usual personal qualities should do quite well - you could look through the CaRMS program directory and see if the programs you are interested in mention any of them in particular.
