zooboomafoo
If you're school gives you grades (A/B/C/F, I'm taking about American school here) and you apply for residency in Canada, how would you be looked at compared to say, other P/F schools? Or are M1 and M2 scores not looked at at all, and only clerkship matters?
physiology
Even in Canada, there is variation amon grading schemes. Some schools are exclusively Pass / Fail. Some complicate this scheme with an extra honours category. Also, for medical school grades, even if you've failed a clinical rotation or course, they almost always provide re-mediation and a chance to expunge the "F" off the transcript. Come CaRMs time, no one would ever know you had a "F" except maybe your own program. In short, your grades wouldn't really matter because it's hard to compare your grades to someone else's. However, I find it hard to imagine any reviewer would turn a blind eye to a string of "Cs" on a transcript.
thebouque
If you apply to Quebec schools they'll look at your grade. Here the grading system is the same as in the USA : A B C D F
