Guest ploughboy
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hey there, Optometry is off on its own. The only English-speaking school in Canada is at the University of Waterloo (1). The only French school in Canada is (I believe) at U Montreal. Like medicine, opto is a second-entry program. This means you have to do some university work before you can apply - three years I think. The program is four years long, giving you a Doctor of Optometry (DO...correction: OD) degree once you graduate. Waterloo used to offer a pre-opt program, but I think they might have folded it into their Bachelor of Health (or whatever they're calling it) program. I'm too lazy to look it up myself, but you might want to poke around the UW website. Guest knitwitty
OD is the optometry degree. DO is the osteopathic medicine degree.

Guest superstorecanadian
I don't suggest anyone to apply for Optometry..seeing that an insider tells me Opticians will be able to refract very soon..
Guest moo
Well, in Oklahoma, I believe optometrists are fighting for the right to do surgery as well, infringing on the opthalmologists' turf.

Guest knitwitty
To the OP... you may want to check out the opto, pre-opto discussions on the SDN forums. http://www.studentdoctor.net Even though it's American, you might be able to get some good info.
