When you renew the transponder, they only give you a renew sticker so would the gate open with an expired sticker? are you trying to cheat the system glob? at ubc the transponder worked if you had money on the account and was more of a prepay system (at least the one my friend and I used). it might work, it might not... you can try but you may have to pay in the end.
