Femto
Has anyone ever taken an upper year math course online? If so, did you have any difficulty learning the material because it was online. I am debating doing an upper year Athabasca math course. Any opinions?
astrogirl
I took differential equations (Math 376) from Athabasca. It was 2002, so it wasn't actually *online* (well, there were some online resources for it but the assignments and stuff were done through snail mail), but it was still distance ed. And it was amazingly good. There was a lot of course material to go along with the textbook and it was really designed to actually teach you the subject. There were lots of examples and practice problems with solutions. I actually did better in it than in any other math class I've taken (and I've taken a lot!). I felt like I learned the subject better than I would have in a classroom. I was really impressed with it.
Femto
Oh cool. Thanks Astrogirl! I am looking at both differential and discrete to take sometime this summer. I wish my school offered these as summer courses. Congrats on your interviews this year!
astrogirl
Thanks! Now that my thesis revisions are done, I have nothing to do but obsessively wait until May 13. Good luck with your math classes!!
