cellphone matters - specifically asking maritimers

Hello Everybody,

 

I'm just asking on a friend's behalf, what's the best cellphone provider to go with if you're residing in Newfoundland? More specifically, in the St.John's area. I don't think they have a Telus network there. It's looking like the only options are Rogers, Bell and Mike towers are present...

 

Does Fido just feed off of the Rogers' towers? He's looking into the Fido plan but he's not sure if the reception for Fido would be great in this area. Any help/insight would be great!

Anyway I don't know what the coverage is like in NL, but Rogers is pretty bad in NS.

There is Telus service in NL. They rent airtime from Bell. Bell has an extensive network (therefore Telus has an extensive network).

 

Rogers is terrible. They have very few towers and even inside St. John's the reception is extremely poor. I'm pretty sure they don't have towers off the Avalon Peninsula. I had Rogers for 6 months when I lived in NL before I switched to Telus 8 years ago.

I had Telus service in St. John's from 2003-2010 until I moved. Rogers is crap. You will lose reception if you drive 15-20 minutes outside of the city.

 

Go telus, 100%.

How does Bell compare to Telus, in terms of reception? The Bell plans are pretty good...
