So.. could I get a few mill from the girl who wouldn't dance with me at the grade 7 year end fling? While I do sympathize with the parents regarding the pain and suffering they ARE going through....$50 million, what the hell?

Leon
While I do sympathize with the parents regarding the pain and suffering they ARE going through....$50 million, what the hell? That's the max amount you can get from lottomax. I can't believe this.......who pays for this? Is there some kind of $$$ protection/insurance for doctors? I can see the fault and the difficulty and struggles the family's facing because of a mis calculated decision but $50M is beyond ridiculous
future_doc
Thats what malpractice insurance is for (although once you have such a judgment against you, you become uninsurable. I believe the cost of malpractice insurance for an obstetrician in Miami area is $250k/year. Best to stay in Canada for this specialty.
Robin Hood
So if you are a doctor in the US, it's better to avoid hard cases, as you could become ruined.
future_doc
As a battle hardened obstetrician, you learn to cherry pick your patients - thereby avoiding serious problems from the getgo.
