mangos
Do different types of funding make a difference on resumes or apps? like why do so many people try to get NSCERCs? in alberta there is also funding by AIHS. and many other ways to get funding. but do med schools favor NSCERCs? NewfieMike
I doubt they care. A competitive award looks good. Both are competitive awards. It shouldn't be something that will make or break you

Similarly, people outside of Ontario may not be familiar with OGS. In both cases they are provincial level awards. My guess is that more people know about the national level tri-council agency funding and so they pick up on it more quickly. Like NewfieMike said though, a provincial vs national award probably doesn't make any difference in terms of MD admissions. If we're talking research, I'd argue that the tri-council ones are more highly regarded though (even though some provincial awards are sometimes harder to get than the tri-council ones).
