totallyawesome
I'm tired no matter how much sleep I get. I rely on stimulants and caffeine to get me through the day.
Falling
Same. I've cut back to about 5 cups of coffee, but I may go back up to
totallyawesome
How would we find out if say the econ dept was restarting or not? Do we just assume they are unless told otherwise?

Falling
It is interesting to see so many students deciding not to cross picket lines for tests without knowing what the remediation policies are.

Falling
Watching short clips of the rally - they are far too happy and dancy. Not sure if revolutions work that way.

Falling
Still wondering how this mess of a term will work out. I can't even ask medical schools how their policies apply because it is impossible to explain the situation.
totallyawesome
What year are you in, Falling?
Falling
Hard to say. I guess York classifies me as 4th year, but thats only because i got 60 transfer credits from my first degree. I'm taking mostly second year classes. I'll be out of here at the end of the winter 2016.

Falling
By the time the strike ends, there will be robotic doctors that have rendered MDs obsolete. We will then be thanking CUPE and York for saving us the 100-150 thousand dollars it costs to get an MD in Canada. aaronjw

Falling
And people with PhD's in feminists studies, human geography, and viking history still won't be able to find jobs CBC got a quote from someone doing their PhD in Fine Art. This perosn said that the world needs more critical thinkers.
totallyawesome
To play devil's advocate, the fine arts actually require a great degree of thoughtfulness. At least once you reach a certain level. Can't speak out for the liberal arts though.
aaronjw
I agree it does. I do not believe in university as a purely vocational tool but that doesn't mean we need as many programs as we do in the fluff that we have. We have to live in a reality which considers how one can apply their education to the real world when they are done. If students can't figure out the practical reality of their history, political science, geography, equity studies, feminist studies, etc education after they are done then they aren't exactly a critical thinker.
