What do you like about Saskatoon?

Recommended Posts

Like you said its big enough to have a lot of facilities, yet small enough where you can be outside the city in 20mins max from any direction. There are tons of lakes and camping around here. Believe that there is lots of green space, specifically along the river. I enjoy the Broadway area for all the music, food, and events in the area.

Have to say the cons, is that Saskatoon is a small city that acts and spends like a big city things we really don't need. The roads are the worst as compared to Calgary and Edmonton, and the transit system somewhat reliable. Those are my major problems.

Personally I like cities that are big enough for all the facilities but not too big to be crowdy and messy.

the winter here must be rough tho

anyone to add the pros / cons of the city?

Saskatoon is a great city. While I have not been to BC, but have been to Toronto for few days, I can certainly say Saskatoon is awesome! We have extreme weather, with snow piling up each winter, but we are also one the most sunniest cities in Canada!!! :D

So pros: small city, sunniest weather,a lot of entertainment including Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan friendly people :D

cons: snow in winter, but hey snow is an essential part of Canada! :P

hahahaha... yeah, snow is essential but having a -40 c windchill tomorrow is definitely not:D hahahaha...

LOL so true like I said weather is extreme here!

P.S. There are other pros that I have forgotten to mentioned.

Unfortunately, Saskatchewan has highest rate in homicide-related crime as of 2006 statistics. There are some so-called 'bad' neighborhoods in Saskatoon, but Saskatoon is rich with Aboriginal people's history!

You guys are too optimistic... imagine sitting at the beach in BC... OMG:D

BEACH > whatever Saskatoon can offer....

kk would you rather choose:

Option 1) http://www.cometovancouverbc.com/beaches/100_0010.JPG <---- Serious picture from BC

or option 2) http://www.csc.cs.colorado.edu/~matthew/content/2001-12-blizzard/blizzard-02-l.jpg

Your arguments are invalid...

Bottom Line: If you get accepted at UBC or U of S... I would definitely choose UBC (unless you wanna spend most of your time indoors, or shoveling...)

Well unfortunately you have compared the summer of BC to the WINTER of Saskatoon...one cannot compare apples with orange!

Seems like Saskatoon would be a perfect fit for you. It is big enough that you will have access to all the facilities that you could want, but without being very crowded like bigger cities. The weather isn't even that bad - the winter this year, except for the last few days, has been very tame and actually pretty enjoyable. Winter or summer, Saskatoon is a very beautiful city and I'm loving my first year of medicine here.

Edit: where else in the world can you lay on the beach along the river during the summer and skate on the same river during the winter?
