Double major or Specialist?

Hi,

 

I'm currently an undergrad at UfT and in the midst of chosing my major. I had applied to the

Human Biology: Health & Desease specialist, but have not yet been accepted. I know that this is likely due to my non - competitive gpa. Nonethless, I really have my heart set on this specialist and from the advice I've read here, many people suggested that a specialist is the best way to go. If I chose to persue the specialist, I will be required to make up courses for it in the summer mean while doing a double major during the year. One in Life Science and another of my choice. I really need to know whether it's worth it doing two majors for the sake of getting into my specialist after second year, or wiser to persue these two majors as is. Of the two, I think the double major will help me more towards improving my gpa. If anyone has been in this situation before, please let me know what you did, and if possible any suggestion or advice you might have. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

If your GPA is as poor as you allude to, and getting into medical school is your goal, then I would suggest focussing on a single major and really trying to pick up your marks. A single major with good marks trumps a double major with average marks every time.
