Medically-related work experience

I worked full time for ~1 year on a medically-related study. Should I put it in medically-related experience and leave it out of work (I'm assuming they don't want duplicate entries?)

I wouldn't put it as a duplicate. I'll add it to whichever section that has less entries as you're given max 5 points on each section when evaluated.
