axialpac
There isn't a specific course that will help you do well on verbal reasoning. I read that courses like philosophy and the like that encompass critical thinking, and a high-level of reading help. But importantly, you should just do a lot of reading (without signing up for some philosophy course)--read philosophy articles, fiction/non-fiction books, daily news articles etc.
apache
ummm, reading, anything, period, read things that are difficult and that you intrinsically enjoy, you don't need to take a class... i found the economist was good though. page_matrix
Economist, Time - better choices for current events and writing styles to get you to start thinking about what you read... The best advice for improving VR is PRACTICE, practice, practice...it doesn't matter how early ahead.
PastaInhaler
Pick up one of these. It will make you read more and is therefore critical to success on the Verbal. http://goo.gl/eOPFd EK is good for VR, but if you need more materials, look into this: http://goo.gl/Kp0Se Do as much practice as you can. Practise, practise, practise. It's worthwhile to get a subscription as well. You get a good number of issues, so it forces you to work harder, check this: http://goo.gl/GYc75

Der Kaiser
As far as I can tell, The Economist uses more complicated language than a news magazine or newspaper. Even the national newspapers use Gr. 8 English. VR can pull out some complicated passages, so The Economist is great 'cause it is both interesting and difficult. And Philosophy is good for improving VR, but I wouldn't risk my GPA.
