sanjivtdot
Hi all, I am an IMG and for the most part I was interested in surgery and did most of my electives in that. I applied to america for surgery but that hasnt panned out the way I thought. I really want to come back to canada and I think FM is a good option and im ready to forgoe surgery. My problem is about the Personal statement. How do I justify going in to FM eventhough I have done no rotations in it, and I know that writing coming to Canada isnt a good idea. Anyone have any ideas on what to write???
MedNSports
Best way to go about this is to be honest! Ideally, having at least one FM elective or reference letter would go long way. Say you had change of heart (use examples or give meaningful reasons for why this happened). Also, you could arrange for a FM elective in Canada and say in your statement that you are in the process of arranging more FM electives. Good luck.
