Guest Kicoati
Does anyone have experience with the English Exemption Exam or know much about it? I am missing 3-credits of English and am required to write the literature portion (equivalent to ENG112 at UBC) of the exam, which involves poetry analysis. For those who have done it, how did you find it and how did you prepare for it? I am worry since I have only one chance to pass and I don't remember having done poetry analysis ever. Guest pearlywhitesBC
I can only remember a little bit about poetry analysis. I guess it all depends on what kind of questions the are going to ask. They could be either techcnical (i.e. identify the genre - eg haiku or sonnet) or they could ask you to interpret the poem and write about what you think it means. I found a couple of webpages that might help to give you a start: www.tnellen.com/cybereng/analysis.html www.pfmb.uni-mb.si/eng/de...chniqu.htm You might want to browse over a reference book just to learn some common terms as well - you will be able to work these into your essay. Hope that helps - good luck!
