Not sure, I'm in the process of finishing a second degree so I'm not exactly sure how they will evaluate my GPA Context: 0-18 in Thunder Bay, Guelph 18-26, moved back to T-bay 1 year ago. ECs: 5 years with Campus Emergency Response, +15 years with ProKids in Thunder Bay. Other random short-term activities. Fairly average ECs. Employment at Thunder Bay RHSC for over a year. Interview Location: Thunder Bay, April 7. Age: I just turned 28. Non-trad student. # Previous applications: 2nd time applying (interview but reserve waitlist last year.) ECs: I included everything - sports, music, science fair, then church involvement, President of academic club during undergrad, human rights advocacy in Latin America, member of Graduate Ethics Board during grad school, long-term volunteering with community organizations in my current city (now urban Ontario). Date/Location: Sudbury, March 24 Age/Non-trad: I absolutely consider myself a non-trad applicant. 30, BA and MA in social sciences/health policy, now work in health policy and government relations in Ontario. # of previous applications: 2 - first application was placed on reserve waitlist (not sure that means anything), second application did not receive an interview offer. Lived in Guelph, Ontario from September 2011 - August 2012. Moved to Thompson, Manitoba (a small city 8 hours north of Winnipeg) September 2012 and currently reside there. ECs: Not spectacular, really - Sudbury hospital (v), Camp Quality Northern Ontario (v), WUSC Laurentian (ec), Let's Talk Science Guelph (v), Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre (v), some research (no pubs, yet.. a colleague is continuing a clinical trial that I designed), and other minor things. When I found out I was 29th I figured there was absolutely zero chance and changed my summer plans accordingly. A few weeks later things started to get interesting. I wish you the best as well. PA-C Posted February 6, 2013 Report Share Posted February 6, 2013 Interview: No GPA: Bachelors of Medical Science (3.73), Masters of Science in Physician Assistant (3.2) = total (3.93 GPA) Context: 1-18 Windsor, Ontario...9-24 Beckley, WV...Currently Windsor ECs: Volunteers at the Beckley Veterans Affairs Medical Center...did over 300 hours Education: Did 3 yrs of medical courses....1 year including clincials (Rural/Family/Internal/ER/Surgery/OBGYN/Psych/Peds/Geri) ...Did full history and physical exams, admissions/discharge notes for the doctors...interpret labs...did pap smears and cathers etc..not gonna list them all Age/Non-trad: 25 years old now, a Physician Assistant Certified, Passed my NCCPA board exam in the states # of previous apps: 0 I highly recommend ppl who don't live in the Northern area to apply to this school lol, it's pretty much throwing away your money if you don't live in the Northern/Rural area or attended to school in the States o.o Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Time Stamp: 10:09 am (Feb. 6) GPA: applied with 3.18 but expecting to graduate with over 3.4 Context: Lived in Sudbury whole life, going to school at Dalhousie University ECs: Student physician assistant at rural hospital in Northern Ontario (paid with direct patient contact), varsity rowing team, swim team and water polo team, conservation project to Costa Rica, ESL tutor, peer mentor, research project being submitted for publication Age/Non-trad: 22, Combined Honours BSc. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology & Biology from Dalhousie University # of previous apps: 0 Applied: NOSM and Irish med schools My GPA is low but applied as a Francophone student. I have good EC's which I hope will make up for low GPA. Happy/surprised I got the interview and don't expect to get in this time but the experience from MMI style interview will help me when I apply in future. Nursing practicum in Whitehorse last year (during January lol). ECs: Not great.. 1-2 years volunteering once/week at Boys and Girls Club; some random fundraisers and stuff like that. Lots of sports. Less than one year research lab volunteer. Currently an RN. Age/Non-trad: 24. Finishing 2nd degree this year, 3.96 last semester. # of previous applications: 1. Although I know my application could be a lot better... I was half assuming that I'd get an interview again since I did last year.. and my application is a bit better this year than it was last year.
