Guest pearlywhitesBC
Talk about a dentistry student's worst nightmare!!! I found out back in May that one of the people I work with had an active TB infection! And apparently he was walking around for 4 whole months before he went to the doc. I was pretty worried when I found out (I wasn't sure how it would affect my immunization requirements and such). Luckily, I've had two skin tests since then (the last one at the beginning of this week) and fortunately I wasn't exposed. What a scare though!!! One of those things you don't really think about until it happens to you (I mean, who has TB these days?) I'm totally paranoid of people with a cough now!! :eek
Guest nanoarray
Most of the TB patients in Canada are immigrants. You'll learn about TB a lot (epidemiology, transmission, pathogenesis, treatment--yes, it's treatable, etc) in dental school. TB associates with many many diseases, as you'll soon find out.
