darknebula
Hi all, Would someone kindly shed some light on this topic? Do the US schools interview people who havent completed an on-site elective at their program? Also, if some one wants to apply for both US and Carms, how should the elective time be split between the 2 countries?

Word on the street is that ACGME programs will interview you even if you did not do an audition rotation there (Since there are so many programs, and so many applicants). BUT, you should probably do at least 1 elective at an ACGME location, to show other ACGME programs in general that you have an interest in the US. Elective time in 4th year/3rd year is dependent on your school's policy. e.g., my school allows for a maximum of 8 weeks of rotations outside the US in 4th year. Read up on your school's clinical education manual policy, or equivalent booklet.
