Pediatrics on the LMCC

What are some peds areas we need to focus on? I heard Tanner stages are high yield. What about developmental milestones?

I think I just learned the major landmarks for milestones. Walk at x, two word sentences at y.

If you read the Peds chapter of T. Notes 1-2 times you're golden.

Dont neglect the peds topics that are not in the peds chapter. Peds ent, ophthalmology and especially msk are high yield.

I did read Ortho Peds. High yield. ENT was good with the ear infections and what not.

Did not touch optho. Didn't have close to enough knowledge to make studying it worthwhile.

Know everything about FTT well.

How much weight should a neonate gain/lose?

Contraindications to vaccines.

What bugs cause and how to treat meningitis at various points.

TE fistula (chokes on feeds and SOB), pyloric stenosis (projectile non-bilious puking), intussusception (red currant jelly), etc. and their classic findings

Kawasaki's disease, scarlet fever.

Red reflex -- why might it not be there?

Clubbed feet, hip dysplasia, legg-calve-perth, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, osgood-schlatters

General milestones are a good idea as well as stuff like bedwetting.

Don't forget about child abuse.

Good stuff, thanks.
