Pediatric Neurology

I read that you can access this program through CARMS as a 5 year program or after 2-3 years of peds as a 3 year program. If one was to do the 3 year access route and then do 3 years of neuro, would they also be certified as a general pediatrician (6 year program) or would they only be neurologists and thus be better off just doing 2 years or accessing it directly through carms?
