NeuroBurgers
Hi guys, I'm applying this upcoming cycle for the second time. Last cycle, for LoRs, I had used my previous research supervisor, the manager for a restaurant I had worked at, and math teacher I had been close with in high school. For this upcoming cycle, I am thinking of replacing the math teacher with a PhD candidate who was my T.A. in several courses and had gotten to know fairly well throughout the year. Do you think this is a wise move? Is it advisable to have a PhD candidate write an LoR? Thanks all
thestar10
Position doesn't matter. Whichever one will write you a better letter you should go with. If you wanted the same thing from them (academic) either sounds fine.
Mustang92
Do you guys think a LOR from a Medical student that supervised me doing research would be adequate? They are only going into their second year. Thanks for responses!
thestar10
Supervised or worked with under a prof? Are they your friend or boss? That sounds like a friend writing a letter for a friend. I would try and avoid that if possible.

Hockeynut
What would be considered too short of a time frame having known someone to have their letter considered strong?
future_doc
I had one prof for a small course in which I actively participated, receiving an A and he gave me an excellent reference immediately thereafter. It is about credibility not length of time.
