Anyone get an NSERC or know about Summer NSERCs are University of Calgary?

Anyone know how competitive University of Calgary is with Summer NSERC? Especially for first years? Which department is the most and least competitive?

 

Anyone who has applied to UoC for NSERC who could shed some light on them would be much appreciated.

Also look into AIHS summer studentships, Markin USRP, and PURE. If you do health related research you will be able to apply to at least those, maybe NSERC too if your PI has an NSERC grant. Then your chances will be pretty good to get one of them.

Thanks for the info! i had no idea about Markin USRP. Did you receive a NSERC from UoC by any chance? Or, in fact, any other award that you listed above, and if so, what was your department and GPA?

Sorry for late post, but I received NSERC CREATE at UofC few years back. If your prof is enrolled with engineering or medical faculty, then look into this one. I dont think they required extremely high GPAs, but a well written application.

If you are really interested in research and worried about funding, consider switching to neuroscience. Assuming you are in the faculty of science this would not be difficult. And we neuroscience students are guaranteed funding in the spring/summer so labs are quick to take students. just a thought.
