I created this thread so that those applying to UBC PT this year would have a specific place to post their questions and concerns. Also, if anyone would like to get together to practice for the MMI, please post here!

Hey, UBC PT hopeful here!

 

No concerns, just really hoping to get in this time round. Last year my GPA didn't make the cut off for getting me an interview, but since then I've taken 9 new courses and my new GPA is looking much better.

 

I'm wondering how to prep from here. Anyone have any tips on where to find practice MMI questions? Or strategies for the interview?

Does anyone know last years cut off GPA or % to get an interview at UBC for pt?

Someone on a blog post I found said it was 81.74% for the 2013 cycle. I have absolutely no idea if that is in any way accurate though, but it's the only number I've seen so far.

Best of luck next week! I think that is when we should hear back whether we get an interview or not. As for the gpa cutoff, it varies by year so as long as you are above 80%, I wouldn't worry about last year's cutoff!

It varies year by year in the upward direction and last year I was denied an interview by 0.3%

Also, does anyone know how to convert a GPA from a 4.33 scale? I did not go to UBC for my undergrad.

I got an interview! Got the email at 10:11am this morning. So relieved and glad to be given the opportunity to interview this year. Anyone else hear back yet? I'd love if we could figure out the gpa cutoff.

For the people that didn't get an interview last year, did you receive a rejection letter, or did you receive just no email?!

I got my rejection email last year on the 13th of feb some time in the afternoon. If you haven't heard, they might be waiting to see if anyone declines the interview to then invite the next people in line (at least that would be my guess). Good luck to you!

Last year I didn't find out until a day before the actual interview.. And only after I'd emailed them several times with no reply. Turns out I was on a wait list wait list but no one told me about it

Actually now that I think about it I don't think they actually sent me a letter until after the interviews had passed. It was bizarre

Yes, everyone who gets accepted has to have been interviewed first. They interview roughly double the amount of people they accept.
