Guest jstam888
How do admissions deal with weaknesses that referees may note in their letters?
Guest UWOMED2005
Depends on the school. If an admisions committee doesn't look at the referee reports (ie UWO), then it doesn't really matter, does it?
Guest aneliz
UWO doesn't put a great deal of weight on your reference letters BUT if one of your referees notes a 'fatal' weakness (ie checks off the 'this person would NOT make a good physician box) you may be in trouble - even at UWO. Guest Sn22
I agree, it depends greatly with the school you are looking at. I know at the U of S, reference letters are only looked at after your interview and I think only then are they used as "red flags" (it would probably have to be a pretty weakness). Whereas, other schools ie/ U of A and U of C look at your references early in application process. If you know that one of your references is going to write something negative, I would definately suggest asking someone else.
