kleck096
I'm an Ontario resident and after reading the admission requirements, in theory, I should be competitive, but I was wondering a) how many seats are offered to OOP and what are the realistic GPA/MCAT scores like for OOP offered interviews? AdInfinitum
A - Refer to the Applicant Information Bulletin when it has been updated for the next application cycle B - Detailed stats for 2010-2015 can be found here: http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/health_sciences/medicine/admissions/8831.html
virgil
I think it's 10% of the class of 110, so 11 seats max. Also, just a heads up, don't bother with Manitoba unless you have a ridiculously high MCAT. They only interview around 25 people, with an average MCAT of 13 per subsection, so 39 total. That being said, if you're in that group, you have a very good chance of getting in because people who interview at Manitoba with insane MCAT scores typically get into other schools which they'd rather go to. If your MCAT is 34+ VR 11+, you should apply to Saskatchewan instead.
AdInfinitum
Recalling this forum thread (http://forums.premed101.com/index.php?/topic/84544-possible-admission-changes-in-2016/) it's possible that the OOP quota could return to the 2014 level of 5%; however, this change might not significantly affect the acceptance rate of OOP interviewees*, based on stats from the past few years. Also, a rural or advanced academic background can compensate for a slightly less rarefied MCAT score
