Anes And Internal Electives

Hi everyone,

 

I was wondering - how many weeks of electives do you need to do in anesthesia or internal to be able to get their interviews?

I have heard for Family only 2 weeks (i.e 1 elective) is enough to get interviews. Is there any such number for anesthesia or internal?

For anesthesia, you should really aim to get all 3 letters from anesthesiologists. So ideally 3 electives (but more so you have more options)

 

For internal, it's pretty similar if you have a location in mind. 

 

The thing with electives is to visit the sites you're interested in but also get reference letters. Both anesthesia, internal I think you should aim to get all letters from that specialty which is why I think both need good dedicated electives time. For family, it doesn't really matter and you only need one family MD reference letter.
