medhopeful'17
How is geographical status used in the admissions process? Specifically I am a rural Southwestern Ontario Applicant. Does this hurt my chances?
SoraAde
Nope. They use your OMSAS address for that
medhopeful'17
Do you know if Ottawa residents get preference? This is what the website states: Each year, a minimum weighted grade point average (WGPA) is set for the current application pool. The required minimum WGPA is 3.50/4.00 and upwards according to the following list of categories (not necessarily in this order): Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS) Indigenous Program Francophone stream (varies according to the different geographical status) Anglophone stream (varies according to the different geographical status) So I am just wondering how geographical status is used in the admissions process. Ie only in determining pre-interview WGPA minimums or is it also considered in post-interview decisions? Thanks!
SoraAde
There is no preference with uOttawa for location. The only thing that changes with geographical location is your wGPA cut off. Once you meet that cut off for your location it doesn't matter, you're competing within your stream. If you're looking at the English stream and have a 3.85 wGPA, you should apply. Edit: just gonna reiterate and say it is not factored in pre-interview or post-interview
