ACHQ Posted February 22, 2018 Report Share Posted February 22, 2018 Question since its almost tax season. Do your tax credits completely run out in the first two years of residency? Or do you have some (even though its probably very little) left buffer some effects of the tax that you have to start paying in PGY-3? Right now looking at the salaries for PGY-3 (in ON) I will probably make less than I do now (will probably make less in PGY-4 as well). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I accrued enough education tax credits from 4 years undergrad and 4 years med school (didn't transfer them to my parents) that I had enough to get a $7000 refund in PGY1, $14000 refund in PGY2, and will get another $14000 refund in PGY3.
