Egg_McMuffin
Hi guys, long shot but wondering if there's any data base that provides info on number of seats a particular residency program at a site may have, even better how many applicants they get. Just trying to gather info on competitiveness of specific programs. Thanks!
Coldery
CaRMS has all the data you're looking for. https://www.carms.ca/data-reports/r1-data-reports/ I don't believe they have the # of applicants for any specific program though. Only overall applications to the discipline in Canada. Egg_McMuffin
bearded frog
Programs don't disclose number of applicants.
Lactic Folly
But you can assume that if it's a small competitive field, most people will be applying across the country, barring strong personal reasons.

But surely, CaRMs has this data based on where people applied, so perhaps if you requested "how many applicants did program X have" they may release the information. They have a data request form, don't know the likelihood of them releasing info though for specific reasons. Really, all the data should be available - there is no valid reason it shouldn't be, regardless of what programs may say. There is so much financial funding and cost towards the CaRMS platform - i appreciate the data they DO provide to learners, but given its non-profit status etc, if theres specific requests, they shouldn't really deny them. Perhaps, but it wouldn't be overly surprising information, nor would it be particularly useful for applicants. If anything it might cause applicants to 'over apply' in some years to particular locations they feel safe, then get screwed over. This already happens to various specialties when there is a 'dip' one year, the year after has a raise in competitiveness.
