Hey guys,

Just wondering which other medschools have a systems based approach. Or do all medschools have it now?

Also, which other schools have an e-curriculum? I know NOSM does but not sure of any others.

Hi there,

UofC has a systems-based approach, e.g., each block covers the anatomy, pathology, histology, embryology, and clinical scenarios related to that system. The systems include Repro, Resp, Endocrine, MSK, etc.

UWO's new curriculum will also be systems-based. Right now we repeat each system twice (once in year 1 with the more basic sciences and once in year 2 with the clinical context), but for the class of 2010, you will only see each system once with the basic science and clinical context together.

Most schools are systems-based, but Toronto is a school that comes to mind that is not.

Hey,

So how does UofT teach their students? If it's not systems based...it must be pretty complicated. Systems based seems to keep everything in order. Do you guys know about Mac?

Hey there,

Toronto seems to be about: year one-all that makes the body tick, including all anatomy up front in one course; year two: that which makes the body falter, i.e., all the pathological processes and related clinical syndromes.

Cheers,
