Redface
If I completed by degree in Canada and will be applying to American medical schools living in the US with a green card how will I be evaluated? Am I a American or Canadian applicant? Will this increase my chances in American medical schools?
ArchEnemy
Are you a Canadian citizen with US green card? If so, you are considered a USMD/CMG by both American and Canadian schools (i.e. Non-IMG). If you want to do residency in the US, it is usually recommended that you do your medical school in the US as well, as it makes it easier to make connections for the Match. Redface
I am a Canadian citizen, but since I am also a registered nurse I have been offered jobs and a green card for the US. I am thinking of completing my 2nd degree in Canada and moving to the US with my green card status in order to apply to more American medical schools. This way I will not be viewed as a international applicant and will be eligible to apply to more American medical schools. Do you think this will work? Or will they simply view me as a Canadian applicant since my 2nd degree will be completed in Canada? thanks
shikimate
it all depends on if you already have your green card or not when you apply, which country you did your undergrad is irrelevant.
