GPA dentistry

Hello, 

i just finished my 1st year of dental school and I got a GPA of 3.9/4.3. I don’t know if this is considered good as I would like to specialize later ( not ortho or OMFS). I know there is also  the class ranking system and if I were to guess I would be either around or a bit above the average. 

Im a bit stressed out since everything seems much harder then in undergrad since it’s so much more difficult to have an ‘’ above average grade ‘’

 In my experience, the content you are learning in the first two years of dental school depending on where you go isn't that hard to begin with. It's the volume of material that you are expected to know which makes it quite difficult to do well. It's even worse when you are tested on the most random fact which you may think isn't testable during studying. But kudos to you for wanting to do well. I personally don't want to be in this whole GPA rat race once again just like we did in undergrad.

I agree that the content isn’t that difficult. By hard meant that the gpa rat race is much harder then undergrad as everyone is very strong academically and being just a little above average seems much harder then it was in undergrad . So that’s why I’m worried.
