NewClerk
Hello, I recently matched to the family medicine program at UBC. I noticed that the salaries for BC were last updated November 2020, while other provinces seem to have been updated every year. Why has BC not been updated since then? Also Why are BC/Alberta salaries so low in comparison to other provinces? Can we expect an update soon? As an aside, I am curious if BC has call stipend, and if so, how much does it equate to for overnight call and/or weekend call? Thank you in advance for your replies! carmsinoid
https://residentdoctorsbc.ca/bargaining-benefits/payroll/ and https://residentdoctorsbc.ca/bargaining-benefits/call-stipends/ Every province has their own residency collective agreement with their respective province. Just depends on how good they are at negotiating. Essentially salary is highest in Nova Scotia, and then gets progressively lower as you go west, apart from Quebec.
