That 's a really hard question to answer as there are so many variables. It likely will change by the time your staff as well given you are 6 years out from practice not including fellowship. What do you mean by flexibility? Are you looking to do research and work in academic medicine or build your own practice? Do you intend to specialize (ie child, forensics, geri) or focus on addictions/pain?

That said, I have done electives or have friends in various provinces for a general idea of pay.

BC-fee for service and pay is excellent if you work hard.

AB-I hear generally good

Prairie provinces-Don't have many contacts here. I hear Sask can be really good but never been.

Ontario- Generally lower

Quebec- higher than average

PEI- higher end. base salary plus shadow billing.

Halifax- on the lower end

NL- recent increase but remains lower end however COL is lower as well

I think you still have to ask yourself about what you want in the future. It's hard to say what is ''better'' for you so early on. You can find jobs in almost any province currently as the job market is quite good.
