Transfering from one med school

Hi there. I was wondering if you got into UBC med, you could transfer to another med school after your first year, whether it be a medical school in quebec or Ontario. Or is there a no transfer policy? Cheers.

In theory it may be possible, but it would only be by special permission, and at only at certain times. You'd have to see what each school has for policy, for instance, UBC's policy for incoming transfers is at: https://mdprogram.med.ubc.ca/admissions/after-you-apply/post-acceptance-conditions/#admission-of-students-by-trans-4

You couldn't transfer to a med school in Quebec as they have a strict policy about that. The only time you can technically «transfer» is when you do your residence, but then again it's not really a transfer since it's a whole different admission process. But if you're thinking about moving somewhere else, that would be the best time to do it.

I don't know if other med schools throughout Canada have the same policy though.
