<title>working in the US</title>

<pagetext>Hello all!

I am a med student at Ottawa and wanted to say first that this is a great forum.

My own question, which has probably been asked (so just redirect me to the thread if so) is about working in the states.

If I do my residency in Canada (in psychiatry, say) and decide when I'm forty to go south, would I be required at that point to write all the USMLE exams? Or if you are already post residency do they use some other equivalency test specific to your field?

I know very little about this, and want to know what others think about when to write liscencing exams for the US.

Thanks!!
